2020 Travelers Championship Predictions and Picks
2020 Travelers Championship
Par: 70, Yardage: 6,843 yds
2019 Winner: Chez Reavie
Purse: $7.4 Million, $1.33 Million for Winner
On Thursday July 24th, the PGA will continue their return with the 2020 Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut. The Traveler’s will have yet another loaded field with almost all of the top players in the world competing once again competing as we have seen over the past 2 weeks. Nine of the world’s top 10 players will be competing, with Adam Scott the lone top 10 player who will not be at this weekend’s event. Unfortunately, Tiger Woods will once again not be participating this weekend as he continues training for what is going to be a gauntlet of a schedule at the back end of the summer and fall with 3 of the 4 majors crammed in along with some other big competitions. Last week’s champ at the RBC Heritage Webb Simpson will be part of the field as well and last year’s Travelers champ Chez Reavie will be back to defend his crown.
Now let’s get into the course that the players will be battling at TPC River Highlands and what to expect to see heading into this weekend's event. Reavie won last year's event at 17 strokes under par, with -13 being the score of those who finished 2nd. Expect to see some low scores posted, but I do not believe we will see as many as we did last weekend in Hilton Head. This weekend’s course in Connecticut will allow some of the longer players to try and use that to their advantage in certain spots, but will also really challenge the precision and shot making of this field forcing players to hit quality approach shots and earn their scores under par. Holes 15-16-17, known as The Golden Triangle, will be the highlight of the tournament forcing players to make some important decisions on how to play and how aggressive to be with little margin for error as there is a 4 acre pond situated amongst this area of the course.
Now, let’s move on to picks and predictions for the Travelers Championship. Last week, we predicted a few players to win outright, we did not predict the eventual winner in Webb Simpson, however 4 of our 5 picks (Ancer, Koepka, Thomas, DeChambeau) did finish inside the top 10. This week we will once again be predicting some outright winners, as well as top 10 finishers.

2020 Travelers Championship Outright Winner Picks
Justin Thomas (+1300)
Thomas really rounded into form over the weekend at Harbour Town Golf Links, making a mad dash for the lead on Sunday with a final round 63. Thomas is one of the most consistent players on the tour and his ability to strike his irons well will be huge for a course that will require some tough shot making. Thomas got red hot with his putter on Sunday as well so let's hope that he carries that over into this week’s tournament.
Justin Rose (+3000)
Rose had a tough first round at the RBC Heritage last week, but bounced back in a big way finishing just outside the top 10 after rounds of 67, 66, 65. Just like Thomas, Rose is one of the most consistent players on the tour and always finds himself in the hunt when it comes to late in the afternoon on Sunday. Look for Rose to post a better first round score this week and make a push for the top of the leaderboard.
Jordan Spieth (+4500)
It was a very up and down week for Jordan last week as he posted a round one 66 and final round 69, but two rounds in the 70s sandwiched in the middle. Spieth dominated for 3 rounds at Colonial 2 weeks ago and has shown that his form is beginning to come back. He has won this tournament in this past and with his ability to make shots and get hot at any time I love Jordan to make some noise this weekend.
Joel Dahmen (+9000): Dahmen has played 7 great rounds of golf so far since the return to play with only a poor final round on Sunday that kept him out of the top 10.
Matthew Wolff (+15000): Wolff has not been great so far, however he possesses an abundance of talent and is poised to turn things around and join the big boys at the top.
Top 10 Finishers
Bubba Watson (+330) *Bubba has won here 3 times
Brooks Koepka (+220)
Gary Woodland (+550)
Phil Mickelson (+1200)
